A Mueller Copper Coupling is a traditional, two-piece solder-type fitting used to permanently join two sections of copper pipe in plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration systems. Unlike the solderless Armstrong design, it requires the pipe ends to be cleaned, fluxed, and heated with a torch so that solder can be drawn into its capillary ends by suction to create a sealed joint. This method is a long-standing industry standard but involves an open flame, requires skilled labor, and takes more time than a mechanical connection.
